Android Dominate 85 Percent Smart Phone Market








Android operating system developed by Google strengthen its dominance in the global market of smart phone platform, much to beat its competitors such as Apple iOS, Microsoft Windows Phone, and BlackBerry.

According to the market research institute Strategy Analytics, smart phone device shipments in the second quarter of 2014 to reach 295.2 million units.

Of these, the Android-based mobile phone shipments totaled 249.6 million units or 84.6 percent of the global smart phone market.

According to Strategy Analytics, in the second quarter of 2014 Android is the only platform that has grown over the same quarter of 2013 from 80.2 percent market share.

The second position is occupied by Apple that sent 35.2 million units of iPhone-based IOS. This means, Apple controls 11.9 percent of the smartphone market, down from 13.4 percent in the same quarter the previous year.

Microsoft's Windows Phone and BlackBerry are third and fourth, in which each transmit 8 million units and 1.9 million units of smart phones.

Compared to the same period in 2013, the market share of Windows Phone quarter, down from 3.8 percent to 2.7 percent, as well as BlackBerry shrink from 2.4 percent to 0.6 percent.
